Important:
MGNREGA is demand-driven. The official portal states that eligible households have the right to demand work and that employment is to be provided within 15 days of the demand, subject to the applicable provisions.

100 Days of Employment
A rural household can receive up to 100 days of guaranteed wage employment in a financial year, subject to the scheme’s conditions.
Wage Income
Workers receive wages for the work they perform at the applicable notified wage rate.
Job Card
The Job Card records the registered household and its eligible adult members.

Registered households can demand employment under the programme.
Rural Development
MGNREGA creates productive rural assets and supports works such as water conservation, rural infrastructure and natural-resource management.

Visit Your Gram Panchayat
Contact your local Gram Panchayat and request registration under MGNREGA.

After registration and verification, the household can receive an MGNREGA Job Card.

Eligible adult members can submit a request for MGNREGA employment.

After completing the work and attendance process, wages are paid through the prescribed payment system.
